A G2 has never done that to me before. Sometimes I find new refills a bit scratchy for the first couple hundred words or so and then starts to write more smoothly. I think of it as comparable to breaking in a new fountain pen; it's a little scratchy until the nib is ground to my writing style.

I've had the same problem numerous times. I mailed the evidence to Pilot and they sent an apology (and some refills) with a promise to work on it. I haven't had the problem since so maybe they did actually solve the problem.

This happened to me too. One minute fine, the next, a small metal piece from the end, and death to this G2.

I have a g2 mini, but it's a 0.7mm, I can't seem to find a g2 with a 0.5mm nib here in Portugal

I've had that happen as well but I had it happen right before I was going to write something on my hand. That sharp spring pierced the back of my hand and I had a lovely little bit of ink stuck beneath my skin for a week or so as it healed.

That was odd, never seen that happen before. I find the G2s reliable if a bit boring. Stilllike using my Namiki every day.

Have you ever checked out the Sakura Gel pens? I love them.

I have had that happen to me as well. It's a pain, isn't it? G-2, especially the mini's, are great for Moleskines, but like you said they're unpredictable.
